Dr. Hunyady László, az Enzimológiai Intézet igazgatója szeretettel meghívja a TTK minden, a téma iránt érdeklődő munkatársát Arun Shukla professzor úr (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur) előadására.

Az előadás címe: „Structure, function, and regulation of G protein-coupled receptors”

Az előadás ideje és helye: 2023. december 4., hétfő, 11.00, a TTK földszinti nagy előadója

Alább olvashatnak egy-egy rövid, angol nyelvű leírást Shukla professzor kutatási témájáról és pályafutásáról:

Abstract: Our research program is focused on understanding the largest class of cell surface proteins in the human body which are referred to as G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). These receptors are intricately involved in almost every physiological process and approximately one third of the currently prescribed medicines exert their therapeutic effects through these receptors. The overarching theme of our research is to understand the structure, function, and regulation of GPCRs, and leverage this information to design and discover novel therapeutics with minimal side-effects. Our research program employs cellular, pharmacological, and structural biology approaches to elucidate the molecular mechanisms involved in GPCR activation and signaling paradigms with an emphasis on transducer-coupling and biased agonism.

Biosketch: Dr. Shukla received his M.S. in Biotechnology in New Delhi, and his Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics in Frankfurt with Prof. Hartmut Michel (Nobel Laureate, 1988). Subsequently, he carried out his post-doctoral work with Prof. Robert Lefkowitz (Nobel Laureate, 2012) at Duke University in North Carolina and Prof. Brian Kobilka (Nobel Laureate, 2012) at Stanford University in San Francisco.

Dr. Shukla is currently a Professor and Sonu Agrawal Memorial Chair in the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in India.

Minden érdeklődőt szeretettel várunk!
