Who we are: At the DNA Repair Laboratory, housed within the HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences, our primary objective is to enhance our understanding of DNA repair defects and leverage this knowledge to pinpoint new vulnerabilities in neurodegeneration. Given the susceptibility of the nervous system to various stresses, including DNA damage, we aim to explore the associations between DNA repair defects and neurological abnormalities, with a particular focus on conditions such as Huntington’s disease (HD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Through cutting-edge genomics, proteomics, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, we strive to decipher the differences in DNA repair processes between neurons derived from healthy individuals and those affected by neurodegenerative diseases.

What we are looking for: We invite applications from candidates holding a PhD degree in Life Sciences (or soon graduating), with expertise in molecular biology. Preference will be given to candidates with experience either in neurobiology, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatic analysis, genomic or proteomic approaches.
